Congratulations to Waikato University student Te Aomarama Anderson (Ngāti Roroa, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Tuwharetoa) on successfully completing the Health Research Council-funded Summer Studentship 2019 worth $5000.
The purpose of the Summer Studentship programme is to introduce research to Māori students undertaking health-related courses.
We are pleased that Te Aomarama successfully learned key Kaupapa Māori research skills.
Te Aomarama’s novel research addressed human rights – an issue of importance to Māori communities in general, and Māori sexual and reproductive health in particular.
Te Aomarama is beginning a Masters of Māori Development and her Studentship report was titled ‘Rights-based approaches to achieving better Māori sexual and reproductive health: A kaupapa Māori review of three international rights-based instruments’.
Te Whāriki Takapou wishes Te Aomarama every success for her graduate studies.
